How will I test if my phone is working?

I’m gonna buy an HTC sensation from a guy off craigslist but he says it doesn’t come with a battery or charger,,, how will I make sure it’s working?… I have a car charger can I just plug the phone into the car to see if it boots up without it having a battery installed? Will that work?

    no, you need a battery to test it.
